3 Idiots-Review.

I recently watched a Indian movie with my family. My sister suggested it saying it was funny. Basically it. So I was expecting an average funny movie with a ridiculous plot. But this movies was surprisingly deep and relatable.

Seeing as I am student as well, this was movie that really got to me, especially during these times where I am constantly in doubt of my future.

This movie was about 3 students, engineering students in college and of their struggles. In the first few minutes in the movie, I was skeptical. I thought it was going to be just some other movie about some guys goofing off and the stupid things they do. And, truthfully it was at first.

But, I end up loving these guys friendship. How far they would go for each other is admirable and is something everyone would wish in a friend.

Also, the struggles they go through in college is something I could relate to. The hardship of learning just for the soul purpose of getting good grades and not feeling as if you tried hard enough. Struggling with figuring out why do you even bother? or what do you really want in life? The struggles of trying to make your parents proud and not wanting to disappoint them and yet, not wanting to end up regretting the path you taken.

For a movie that I expect was just going to be all but laughs, it almost made me cry (making me cry is hard, and I hate crying in front of people so I held back).

One of my favorite moments were at the end, when the teacher gave his special pen and he explained why it was important and answered the question he was given on why don't astronauts use a pencil instead? I slightly admired the teacher. Yes, he was egoistic and stubborn as mule. But, when he was asked the question, he didn't entirely brush it off but promised to search the answer and he did. So, that was my favorite moments of the teacher.

The moment that touched my heart was when one of the friends ended up in the hospital and the other friends rushed all the way there. And, they visited him often (not sure if it was everyday cause' they could have time jump) till he was better, bringing his mum and telling him to not give up although he gave up on himself.

There were many moments that probably every student could sympathize with, all the pressure and hardships. It also brings question to me, how important of Niat is. In Islam, niat is more important than the act itself. The reason why you are doing things is important. And everyday, especially when I am studying or just interacting with people I realize intentions are important even if you are doing the right thing.

‘Umar b. al-Khattab narrated that the Prophet (S) said: “Deeds are [a result] only of the intentions [of the actor], and an individual is [rewarded] only according to that which he intends. Therefore, whosoever has emigrated (hijrah) for the sake of Allah and His messenger, then his emigration was for Allah and His messenger. Whosoever emigrated for the sake of worldly gain, or a woman [whom he desires] to marry, then his emigration is for the sake of that which [moved him] to emigrate.” — Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim.

I watched this movie with my father, and was slightly shocked he loved the movie. It's my first time and probably his as well, watching an Indian movie. I mean, I watched a Indian movie before but never properly, never from the start till end. But this movie got me hooked. My father's friend also watched it and they end up recommending it to their other friend. I find it funny because my father is professor so I thought he wouldn't relate to a movie about a life of a student that basically struggles with their teachers. But, he obviously remember his life as student and conflicts he has to endure to be where he is.

Overall, if you are in college, you should watch this movie. Laugh and maybe cry. And you  might learn a few new things from watching it.
