Games I Grew Up With.

For a while in university, I was upset that I couldn't find friends I could relate to. I also felt kinda bad towards my friends as she would bring up topics and it just went over my head. Obviously, our upbringings and childhood were very different.

Anyway, this post is more leaning towards games. I suddenly start flashing back to the times I first starting playing games because I befriended a gamer but the type of games we grew up with was so different. Although I am aware of the types of games she played, I never really delve into that genre of games. Another reason is that my parents would never buy me any games so all I could rely on was browser games.

Besides that, I was never really good at fighting games or games that had a lot of action in it.  I got impatient and would give up. Games that took too much time would always bore me eventually. I played simple games that I could casually open up, then drop it afterwards. There wasn't much of a plot or storyline to it.

I remember the first time I was introduced on how to use the internet/browser. My sister and I still remember; one day my father's friend came over with his family too. They had sons. And I don't know how we came to talking about the internet. But he taught us that anything with a www.--.com basically leads to a website. And there could be games there.

With this new knowledge, my sister and I went crazy as we realized many of our storybooks, behind the book, had a URL. We would explore so much. One of the many websites we found by searching behind our books were Barbie.com, PBS Kids, Cbeebies. We played all the games on it. It felt like we unlocked a new world. At the time, we didn't know we didn't actually need a URL, we could have just searched for games and results would come out.

I think around primary school years was when I really explored more games especially knowing all I had to do was search "Free games" then many websites would come up. I would play a bunch of games there. One of the game websites were Miniclip.

I actually got to know them through my cousin. While my other cousins (female), were playing barbie dolls together, I would sit with my male cousin at the laptop watching him play games on the browser.

Most of these games used flash, which current games don't really use anymore.

I played games like Henry Stickman, Penguin Diner, Raft Wars and more.

At primary school though, I got an introduction to multiplayer games. Like Poptropica, Runescape and Club Penguin. In these games, I would play with my friend, and we would have an adventure together. After a while though, these games became pay -to -play.

Due to my history with exploring the browser to find games, and then me starting blogging and learning how to customize the blog. I am not surprised at why I end up choosing computer science. To customize my blog, I actually end up using HTML and CSS which is coding and didn't even realize it. Just exploring technology is fun.

Anyway, I don't really play browser game for obvious reasons. I stick with mobile games. My recent obsession is 7 Deadly Sins. I haven't watched the anime but I have become invested in the game.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross has officially released

Okay, so that's the end of my boring rant of gaming history. I think I want to write just snippets of my life instead of writing messages on this blog. This was a nostalgic trip.
